Cheapest HP F2229AA#ABA 12c Financial Calculator

I happen to buy this product directly from HP. I had it for two weeks and the interal display broke. Called HP tech to find out about getting it repaired, and was told that it was my fault that it broke, and that it was not something that could be repaired, bottom line I was told I had to buy another at 160.00. I have had a complain into Hpheadquarters for about a week now and have not gotten a response. Next step is the better business bereau.Get more detail about HP F2229AA#ABA 12c Financial Calculator.

Buying HP 9G Scientific Calculator

I bought this because my HP-48 is too big to lug around all the time. Keypad has nice tactile feel. Snap-on rigid case and slide-out plasticized 'quick-reference' guide are good (NB I haven't dropped it yet, but it looks fairly durable...).

I agree with other reviewers that the display of graphs is poor and the display clarity is bettered by other brands/models. In my opinion, the graphical display mode is only useful for viewing a quick sketch of a function. Text/number display is adequate. If the graphing of functions is important to you it may be better to look elsewhere and accept a compromise in other areas.

Most other brands in the price range claim 'algebraic entry - enter problems just as you write them on paper'. In my experience this is never the case - they all seem have exceptions and rules to be remembered and even simple operator precedence (i.e. 2+3x5^2=77, not 227 or 125) is not always got right. HP9g is very consistent and correct in this area. Implicit multiplication (i.e. key 2cos(30)instead of 2XCos(30) or 2A for 2XA) eases problem entry and makes a displayed formula more readable. No built-in complex number handling is a minus point for me. Reviews elsewhere show the HP9g maintains accuracy at extreme values of function arguments - reassuring for professional use. As a working engineer these points are far more important to me than having the best possible display.

Large memory for previous calculations - you can scroll back 25+ lines to check or edit and re-do a calculation.

Quick easy programming in a version of the BASIC language is also a plus point. IF,THEN,ELSE, GOSUB and FOR...NEXT are all supported. Also INPUT and PRINT ease data input and results display which is a major bugbear of most calculator programming.

As you've guessed I like this little calculator. It's no match for the HP professional models (at 6-10x the price...); the graphics might have been better left out; others have better displays: but as a everyday professional tool I find I can use it quickly and intuitively and trust the result where other brands in the same price range have left me wondering if I have really got the answer I wanted.

Buy 50g Graphing Calculator, 12-Digit Pixel Display

Too Frustrating, Horrible Documentation, Not Recommended

I am an engineer and purchased this calculator (based on amazon reviews) for graduate engineering courses. Several weeks into classes (many hours trying to figure out the functions) it was too difficult to understand quickly and I abandoned it for the semester. I used an hp calculator in undergrad engineering but the complicated new menu layout and the horrible documentation make an awful combination.

I have now spent more 40 hours trying to figure this calculator out and still consider myself confused. I find the examples in the manual poorly written and poorly indexed. Even basic functions are too complicated. Many examples just don't work. For entering a 3x3 matrix I followed the example. There are actually two steps missing which you have to guess and find yourself. Someone should thoroughly test these first.

After feeling I was deceived I went back and looked at the other hp50 amazon reviews carefully. In 20 of the 5 star reviews the reviewer only reviewed the hp50 product which now makes me suspicious. In addition, 15 other excellent reviews are from foreign countries in such simplistic and incorrect english that I wonder if they really saw, used, learned, or tried to program the hp50.

Even re-reading many of the other 4 and 5 star reviews that I think are genuine I noticed a lot of "however..." comments.

Before you buy here are some of my comments. Many are mentioned in other reviews but I give them here to justify my review number.

- Documentation is horrible (as mentioned in many other good and bad reviews)
-Way too frustrating to learn how to use the product
- Many functions are two strokes (shift+function) (like x2)
-888 page manual (4" thick), colossal waste of paper, hardly any writing on each page
- Because the PDF manual is so big it is difficult to navigate
-Index alone is 25 pages, could be on 6-7 pages, too much flipping pages to find things
- ENTER key is now bottom right of calculator (further to travel to enter data)
-I don't like the heavy leather case: clumsy and weighs almost as much as the hp50
-Its a nice case for opera glasses, but for a calculator it should be light and easy/fast to remove (its not)
- Case with calculator inside approaches 2 inches thick (is that necessary?)
- It has a weird magnetic case button that doesn't seal on the first try, you have to push it around until the magnet connects properly every time you close it
- Navigation up,down, right, left buttons are hard to push, slow, and have a loud click
- Battery cover comes off when removing calculator from case, poorly made in China

On the positive side the unit itself seems sturdy not unlike my original hp. Keys are relatively solid. I haven't experienced any mistaken or extra keystrokes as others have, but it is still new. Screen seems fine.

I'm stuck with it (almost 3 months so far) so maybe after another 3 months I'll start to change my mind.

In summary, if you want to own a calculator for 3-6 months and still have no idea how it works, and if you like feeling stupid and frustrated, this is the calculator for you. You will be guessing how functions work and wasting a lot of time.

I equate the experience to learning a completely new programming language by myself with no help from anyone and little documentation. This should not be from HP.

It appears many satisfied hp50 users are people who already own the hp48 (which i did not), and with years of experience with that product the learning curve might be fine.

Save yourself the headache and carefully read the 5star/4star reviews. You will see that many have a "however..." section talking about the bad points. I wish i would have read them more carefully before I bought.

The product is too frustrating. Not recommended.

Avoid this one folks! One look at the price tag is enough to make any college student shiver. While its very possible that there's some sort of error the current listing of well over 1k is Not what you need to pay. Amazon and many other sellers here offer the same one new for under $100.

Order Canon DK100i USB Calculator (9722A001AA)

You cannot tell from pictures how a product will feel and perform. I took a chance on this one and have been pleasantly surprised. I've never carried a separate keypad for my laptop, but I always carry a calculator. The added functionality is welcome. The keys operate smoothly. The keyboard is not standard size, but large enough to operate with three fingers. The display is large and easy to see. It has rubber feet that stay put as you enter keys. When attached to a computer, you can choose between entering numbers directly like a standard keypad or you can go offline, make calculations, and send the result to your spreadsheet or other software. The keyboard includes arrow keys for navigation and the all important backspace key. Pretty Cool! I showed my new device all around the office and now I am Mr. Cool!Get more detail about Canon DK100i USB Calculator (9722A001AA).

Programming instructions provided reference an expired manual. The new manual has changed page numbers, equations, and equation forms making this program guide useless.

The technical support number provided is a fax number and the email address is returned as undeliverable.

Amazon should be ashamed.

****Once I contaced the seller through Amazon and convinced them of the problem, they identified a printing error that caused older manuals to ship as current. Sharp VX2128V Portable Desktop Handheld Calculator This instant

This is a great calculator for auditors and accountants. The calculator is slightly bigger than regular hand held calculators but it feels like a regular desktop printing calculators. The buttons doesn't feel too clunky or slippery. The battery is easily replaceable by unscrewing a small slot, which you don't need to take the entire back casing to remove the battery. Though the price is a bit high (4 stars), I expect this calculator to last for at least 15 years (For those of you who are picky about depreciating fixed assets).

Save Royal Machines XE36 Calculator with 12 Digit Display, Extra Large Display, Solar and Battery Power

I bought this calculator for my wife because she is legally blind so she needs something that she can read.
This calculater has huge numerals yet the unit folds in half so that it fits nicely in her purse and is no larger than a makeup compact.

The best thing about this calculator is that it operates at ANY angle of opening. Most folding calculators I have looked at only work when fully opened so they are twice the size when being operated. This one operates at any angle so she can put it in the upper area of the shopping cart with the screen area at a 90-110 degree angle and it works nicely. It has a 12 digit display screen so you can use it for large calculations and has most scientific functions which makes it great for school.

Because it folds in half, there is no danger of damage to the display screen when it is in pocket or purse from keys or change bumping into the screen.
Last, but not least, it has a solar panel to drive it when in the sun. This will extend the life of the battery many times its normal life if you use it a lot outdoors or near a sunny window. Discount Zelco Electronic Bookmark Dictionary II

This product is better used as a bookmark only. As a dictionary the overall design and content leave a lot to be desired. As noted by other reviewers, the keyboard is too flexible where it needs to be rigid. The keys are not user friendly; very often duplicating a letter when it was touched but once. I, like others, have found the dictionary seriously flawed; not enough content, very frustrating considering the time it takes to input an entry. Further, I don't need a calculator or clock either. I suggest consideration of a different product, e.g., the SHARP E550.Get more detail about Zelco Electronic Bookmark Dictionary II.

It does all you need it to. exponents, square roots, squares numbers, etc. It's very easy to use and the graph is also very easy to use. Buying 12-Digit Heavy-Duty Print Calculator with Fluorescent Display (CNMCP1213DII)

We are perfectly happy with the Canon calculator. The key strokes are soft and it's easy to operate. If I HAD to change something about the machine it would be the font on the print out. It's not as easy to read as previous Canon machines we've had.
It is important to us to have the same, or very similar, machines through out the office, as we are invariably at someone elses desk when a call comes in to "calculate" something for a customer. We tried one of the 1400 series machines and found it to be complicated in that the "sleep" function was annoying and to clear out previous totals was near impossible. (Yes, we read the instructions)
Living in a small town we have limited resources. It's not unusual to hear "they don't make that anymore" when shopping here. So, I was thrilled to find the same brand and model calculator we use throughout the office through Amazon.Get more detail about 12-Digit Heavy-Duty Print Calculator with Fluorescent Display (CNMCP1213DII).

Buy Canon X Mark I Premium White Desktop Calculator (3982B006)

The reason I bought this calculator is that it looks nice. It has a large keypad and a clear display. Sounds perfect for a general purpose calculator, right?

For the purpose of this review, I am evaluating it from a basic office use scenario.

PROS:
This looks like an Apple product. Even the packaging, the wrapped cellophane, the included case and the laser etched back look like an Apple product. Form is king.

CONS:
The biggest problem, in my opinion, is that it lacks an exponent function. I assumed that it included this function but completely missing. Instead it includes Sell, Buy, and Margin buttons to perform basic arithmetic tasks. It even has two ways to erase your data entry. It devotes 5 buttons to nearly useless tasks and cannot perform exponent calculations. Wow.

Second, the included case is crap. It is nearly useless as it is so tight fitting that it is hard to get the calculator in and out for the first few weeks. It is a cheap material that is too stiff to be used for this purpose.

Of course, since the case fits too tightly, it quickly scratches the display. It is a shame to spend $30 on a BASIC calculator that focuses on form more than function - and then have the calculator screen quickly scratch.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Know what you're getting: a basic calculator that cannot replace a scientific or financial calculator. This device still fits 80% of my needs, but I cannot put away my scientific calculator because I need it to solve some common calculations.

It isn't a bad calculator, but the included functions severely limit this device's utility.Get more detail about Canon X Mark I Premium White Desktop Calculator (3982B006).

Purchase FX 115MS+ Scientific Calculator, Solar/Battery, 10 Digit, Protective Case (CSOFX115MSPLUS) Category: Scientific Financial and Graphing Calculators

For many years, I used a Casio Scientific that had no battery. It meant that I had to be sure that there was some light (not much at that) in order to use it. It was stolen and I've been trying to replace it. This models description didn't indicate that it had or needed a battery so I bought it. It has a battery and indications from the (enclosed) directions seem to indicate that is required and must be replaced when it goes dead. there is little more irritating to me than having to find a special battery for something for many reasons. That, and the awkward "case" are the only faults I find with it but they are enough so that I find myself willing to give it away soon (before the battery ages or the case gets lost). I should point out that the calculator depicted FX1115MSPLUS doesen't have the BIG round button mine has and mine doesn't call itself ...PLUS. the one in the picture might be the one I ordered but didn't get. ??? I sure hope someone reads this... .Get more detail about FX 115MS+ Scientific Calculator, Solar/Battery, 10 Digit, Protective Case (CSOFX115MSPLUS) Category: Scientific Financial and Graphing Calculators.

Where To Buy Calculated Industries 6270 Ultra Scale Master Pro/Smart Takeoff graphic digitizing software bundle

This is really better than I expected for the cost. It came with a hard case for easy storage and transportation, the battery-operated 'puck' which can be used either connected to a computer (as a digitizer, with included 10' USB cord) or stand alone, software (2 cd's, digitizer is good, and a spreadsheet program, which is just OK, kind of limited use), and reflector bars (being this is a sonic measuring device). It works well with different shapes and is accurate enough for estimates. On the 1/4"= 1' scale, 15'8" wall read 15'11". Most measurements were closer than that. On 200'= 1", 10,118 sq/ft area was within 40 sq/ft to what I had figured with pencil and paper. There are quite a few scales that cover architectural, engineering, and metric scales. There is also a custom scale setting to set your own, if needed. The included software spreadsheet is fairly useless, although you can send the numbers to your own spreadsheet/estimating program. (Which I do, and it works good that way). I have purchased several items from Calculated Industries, and this one integrates well and makes estimating easier. Overall, a great product for the price. Portable enough to be used in the field, and in the office.Get more detail about Calculated Industries 6270 Ultra Scale Master Pro/Smart Takeoff graphic digitizing software bundle.

Kensington 19-Key External Pocket Keypad and Calculator (33059) Top Quality

This keypad is reasonably compact and coordinates well with silver laptops. The keys have good tactile feel and feedback. There is a raised dot on the 5 key to ensure the "home" position for data entry. The keypad works as a simple calculator when disconnected from a computer. This is a critical accessory for spreadsheet users, including teachers using a spreadsheet for gradebook entries.

Contrary to the experience of another reviewer, I have found this model to work just fine with all my Macintosh computers and laptops running OSX 10.2 through 10.4 and Excel 98 and 2004. (I will not use Excel 2008 until it is restored to more than 50% of the function of 2004). It requires no driver installation on a Macintosh.

I would have given this accessory a 5-star rating save for one annoying problem. When using this with a Mac laptop, if you leave the keypad attached to the computer and put the laptop to sleep by closing the cover, the keypad annoyingly fills the current Excel cell with a long string of a single digit repeating rapidly. The fix for this is to unplug the USB cable and plug it back in, then delete the many (hundreds sometimes) false digits. The keypad then works fine thereafter...unless you put the computer to sleep again.

So a good product in my opinion, just not perfect. rossGet more detail about Kensington 19-Key External Pocket Keypad and Calculator (33059).

HP 40gs Graphing Calculator (F2225AA) This instant

FINALLY - a graphing calculator for the 21st century, and the price is right! I never thought that word 'intuitive' could be applicable to an HP grapher but the 40GS is intuitive - user friendly. And unlike the TI's, it's not built like a kids' toy and the screen is clean and readable.

Most HP graphers assume that you're an engineer and so you're smart enough to figure out how to use the calculator without any help. The 50G is an incredibly powerful little machine but it is tough to figure out and there is no good documentation to help unless you want to print out the 800+ page PDF file, which goes into more detail than you'll ever need. Not so the 40GS - unless you really need all the high end features of the 50g, buy the 40GS for half the price and you'll be very pleased.

I have used just about every grapher out there - TI83,84,86,89, several HP's including the 50G. Since I don't need everything the 50G supports, I decided to try the 40GS after reading some reviews here on Amazon and seeing that it's reasonably priced, and I am very satisfied - won't be using anything else from now on. Even programming the 40GS is a snap - you actually have a little IDE for developing programs, and you don't need to use RPL.

Calculated Industries 8510 Home ProjectCalc Do-It-Yourself Project Calculator Immediately

As a woodworker I've found this small calculator to be a great addition to the shop. I'm decent at fractional arithmetic, but sometimes that can get a little shaky when in the middle of a project step and this tool ensures the dimension calculations are correct and in a the fraction measure that corresponds to project plans (no decimals or metric measurements allowed!). On top of that, when I had a question the company responded very quickly with the right answer and then followed up a few weeks later to ensure I was pleased with their response. I strongly recommend this purchase for a woodworker of any ilk, whether professional of hobbyist.Get more detail about Calculated Industries 8510 Home ProjectCalc Do-It-Yourself Project Calculator.

Lowest Price HP 32Sii Scientific Calculator

First the history: I purchased an HP32 back in 1988, after owning HP25 and HP29C. Lost it on a plane in the 90s and went out to buy another as soon as I realised the loss could not be recovered. Over ten years on I lost the next one two weeks ago and bought an HP35S to replace it. The 35S is really nice but today I found the HP32Sii in an obscure place. Was I disappointed? Hell no!

The HP35 is functionally superior and is cheaper. The HP32 is a shade narrower, thinner, shorter and thus neater to hold, nicer to press, and has most of the functions of the 35. I recommend the 32 as a great calculator, enormously reliable, fits in your shirt pocket more neatly than the 35 or later models and is functionally capable. However, if you need more power then the 35 is superior, no doubt about it. In fact, I am about to sell my HP49G because the 35 makes its important functions more accessible while the 49's more powerful functions are better done on a computer.

For the record, I also own an HP17Bii financial, having the same form factor as the H32 and also a real favourite.Get more detail about HP 32Sii Scientific Calculator.

Discount Construction Master Pro: Workbook and Study Guide

I purchased this book with the Construction Master Pro (4065). Unlike many of CI's other calculators which only come with a "cheat sheet booklet" for documentation, this calc. comes with a will written spiral bound users manual (as well as the cheat sheet booklet) with will written instructions and examples, making the "Workbook And Study Guide" more redundant than anything else. This book looks as if it were written as a classroom aid and as such and used in that way, I am sure it has value (emphasis on workbook, rather then study guide).
Bottom line, were I to do it again I would purchase these items separately, only buying the workbook if I was actually in a class which used it.
Note: This is NOT a reference book. Examples are broad in nature and limited to a narrow application of calculator usage.
