Canon HS-1000TG Recycled Calculator This instant

As some have said, there is not really a lot to say about a calculator, particularly when other reviews have pretty much covered everything.

The main comment I'll make is that the keys are very easy to work and have just the right amount of resistance to them. This may sound like an odd thing to point out, but I have had several low cost calculators that have driven me potty in this regard; with keys that would stick or not connect, whereby a number you thought you entered didn't go through, causing you to have to start again and re-enter everything. This one works great in that regard; the keys only require a soft touch and seem to be well engineered.

Lastly, I think it is just the right size...not a huge tablet but much larger than those tiny shirt-pocket sized. It has a nice overall appearance as well; something you don't really mind leaving out on your desk. And then on top of that, there is the "green factor" associated with the device.

Definitely worthy of five stars. Get more detail about Canon HS-1000TG Recycled Calculator.

Texas Instruments TI503SV Calculator Order Now

While my primary calculator is my TI-89 (a high-level graphing calculator), there are times when the four function calculator comes in handy. When it comes to tutoring elementary students, performing a simple calculation using one of the four functions, or occasions where the TI-89's AAA batteries have died, nothing beats the TI-503SV. I've had this calculator for many years and have never had a problem with it.

The size of the calculator is a definite plus. It fits nicely in a shirt pocket without creating a bulge. It also is the right size for a purse--I bought one for my grandmother, who carries it her purse to calculate tips at restaurants.

Ease of use is a definite plus with this machine. The numbers are crisp and large unlike many other pocket-sized four function calculators I've encountered over the years. All four basic operations plus square roots can be performed using this machine. There is also a memory function.

My favorite feature of this calculator is that it is battery-powered, not solar powered. In rooms where lighting is less than ideal the calculator will still work fine. To save battery life, Texas Instruments included a handy "off" button; the calculator will also shut off after a period of inactivity.

I recommend this calculator for everyone--the convenience, ease of use, low price, and compact design make it ideal for all.Get more detail about Texas Instruments TI503SV Calculator.

Lowest Price Texas Instruments TI-92 Plus Graphing Calculator

This is a great calculator for up and coming engineers and related degrees. The 92 plus is bulky, almost looks like a small portable computer. Most professors don't allow it on test, because of that, but for higher levels of mathematics such as statics an engineering analysis it does the job that I need done. Be aware though that this calculator is discontnued by TI and replaced by the Voyager 200 series, so don't expect help if something goes wrong.Get more detail about Texas Instruments TI-92 Plus Graphing Calculator.

Save Texas Instruments TI-81 Graphing Calculator

You get what you pay for here. I am a cheap college student, and I pay for a cheap calculator. It works wonderfully, but the only thing that is inconvenient for me is the memory this little thing has. If I want to look back to the last equation I put in, it doesn't remember it, unlike new calculators. But, hey, I am totally satisfied because I only needed it for one semester. It does a lot more than my little casio calculator too. To my knowledge it has the functions as a newer one that typical people might use(of course there are sweet programs from the new ones, but most don't use those functions anyway). It works well, especially for the price I paid. :)Get more detail about Texas Instruments TI-81 Graphing Calculator.

Discount HP HP48GX RPN Expandable Graphic Calculator

I have owned top of the line graphing and scientific calculators from TI, HP, Casio, Sharp, etc. Back when I was a student, TI's were very cheaply made and often broke quite easily amd similar HP products lasted almost forever. This machine, the HP48GX (graphing and expandable), continues that HP tradition and is definitely put together very well. The HP48GX also includes the full and very extensive library of solutions from various branches of Physics and Engineering, etc. The pros and cons as I see it are:

PROS:

1) The Hp48GX has all the standard regular features plus CAS (Computer Algebra System) features that we have come to expect on such a machine, plus many nice very detailed and topic as well as course specific APPS that are already preloaded or can be added in electronically and quite simply from the HP or HPcalc or other websites.

2) It even works quite naturally with complex number solutions of equations (it can be switched from a real to a complex operating mode and even back again as desired). This machine is so versatile however that it will even evaluate symbolic matrices and it even evaluate the physical units of extremely complex equations as well as its numerical answer(s) (see more discusssion on this topic below).

3) This machine itself is relatively slow compared to the HP50g for example, but still comes with a graphical interface and resultant plotting system. The resultant plots are high quality and are very intuitive for the learning process.

4) It has a nice old style rectangular body design (similar to the Casio FX-2.0 or FX-2.0Plus) that sits very nicely both on a desk or a table as well as in your hand.

5) It has a large on-board main memory (by 1992 standards) that can be readily expanded and that is enough for tackling some memory intensive problems.

6) Although it is called a calculator, it is really a small, handheld computer system which can tackle problems from the most simple to ones with quite complex features.

7) The famous RPN (Reverse Polish Notation) operating system is available to the user.

8) The complete set of the predicted units of the solution of a complicated equation (or set of equations) can be determined independently of and simultaneously with its numerical answer(s). This is a feature that I do not know of on any other calculator system (except the later HP49 and HP50 series).

9) As on all such HP RPN models, a very fine self-test system is available to make sure your machine is fully functional all the time and a reliable clock (with seconds) is also continuously available.

CONS:

1) Some functions that you would readily expect to be available with a single key press require instead at least two key presses, but usually with only a single shift key press first.

2) The learning curve is quite steep, although very well worth the considerable effort, but this will heavily deter some good students from learning the RPN skills that can be effectively used for your entire lifetime once they are successfully mastered.

Cheap Canon MP11DX Printing Calculator

As a CPA an adding machine is like an extension of my right hand at times. No matter how computerized things get I'll always want my trusty little adding machine. Since I found this little Canon about 5 years ago I've changed jobs a couple times, and every time I HAD to order this exact machine because of its ease of use and attractiveness. (I finally bought one with my own $$ for my current position so that I can take it with me if/when I move on to something new.) It has a nice silver color with a black "cover" over the blue numbers on the display. It has a clock and calendar option. It prints black positive numbers and red negative numbers.

If you get one of these, make sure you open up the top and take the tape off the ribbon. It's like scotch tape (or something similar) put on there for shipping. If you don't take it off, you'll think the machine is out of ink during the first week or two because the ribbon won't be moving.Get more detail about Canon MP11DX Printing Calculator.

Purchase Calculated Industries 4019 Materials Estimating Calculator

I bought this calculator for an estimating class that I was taking. We had to regularly look at plans, do dimension takeoffs and add them all up in order to quantify building components. This calculator excels at quickly adding up feet/inch measurements (including fractions of an inch), as well as converting between cubic feet, cubic yards, etc. Entering dimensions is as easy as pressing 5 6 1 / 16 (to enter 5' 6-1/16"). You can do all the basic functions, multiplication, division, etc. When you multiply feet by inches, you can get the result in square inches, feet, or yards.

There are additional functions in the calculator that I haven't used very much. You can take a measurement and convert it to useful quantities, such as board feet, tons of gravel, gallons of paint, etc. You can even set a standard cost for the item so that you can then calculate a price. For instance, you can do a takeoff of a wall, find that it's 450 square feet, then convert that to gallons of paint, and then convert that to a price.

The calculator is nice because it's got a flip cover that's hard and will prevent the buttons from being pressed while it's in your backpack or pocket. The bright yellow plastic is nice because I've already caught myself leaving it behind twice. It can run on either solar power or the internal battery. There's a little door in the back of the calculator that opens up so that you can store the manual with it. The calculator comes with two versions, one in Spanish and one in English. The manual is easy to follow and provides lots of examples on how to use the fancier functions.

Definitely a great buy. Even if you're only using this to add up fractions and quickly convert between units, it's well worth it. It's more convenient and definitely faster than using my TI-89 to do the same thing. It's also way cheaper too. One gripe I have is that it doesn't display more digits. Not a big deal, but when you're multiplying large jobs and calculating costs, it will give you an error if the answer is over 7 digits (ie. it can only go up to 9,999,999).

Make sure to read the manual or keep it with the calculator. There are a lot of cool features it has, but unless you use them regularly, you'll need to refer to the manual in order to see how to get the functions to work.Get more detail about Calculated Industries 4019 Materials Estimating Calculator.

Canon PIDHV Printing Calculator (9493A001AC) Get it now!

I purchased this calculator a week ago at Office Depot. I had a lot of difficulty loading the printer paper (just where exactly am I supposed to insert the paper?...) The most irritating thing for me about this calculator is that the decimal point is very tiny and tends to get lost (and hence very easy to overlook) among the otherwise large and very clear display numerals. Also the Print indicator is much too tiny for my liking.

As for the instructions - they left me wondering what Canon was thinking when they designed the layout of the instructions. The instructions begin with calculation examples, then explain what the different keys are used for. Next is the list of specifications. Then follow instructions for loading and replacing the batteries. At this point, if you're wondering how to load the paper, you'll find them on the backside of the instructions rather than toward the beginning of the instructions where you might logically expect them to be. As for loading the paper, it took me several guesses before I finally figured out exactly where to insert the paper. Otherwise, I basically like the features of the calculator except for, in my honest opinion, the inadequately tiny decimal point.

In summary, the seemingly illogical order in which the instructions are laid out, an unsatisfactory decimal point size, and the unnecessary difficulty in loading the paper detract from an otherwise easy to use compact calculator with a very clear display and a nice printout. In conclusion, I would suggest checking out other calculators before purchasing this one to make sure you're satisfied with all of its features.

HP 48Gx 128Kb Ram Programmable Expandable Graphing Calculator Decide Now

I've owned my HP48GX for close to 12 years, and discovered that what started out as a dreaded but required calculator for my math classes (at Missouri S&T), it is hard to imagine not using it now in the professional world. Honestly the calculator did see more use in the college years, but recently I've found it needs some maintenance. Considering how much "pounding" it went though on the keyboard, it lasted longer than your typical graphing calculator. The Matrices and library functions are valuable assets, as well as the printing option and infrared interface. I decided to purchase the programming manual for it so to learn how to program on it better, and it does help. Eventually I am going to have to get a few keys fixed, which function 'sometimes', but the value of getting it fixed definitely is worth not having to buy a new graphing calculator or replacing it with another. The only down side is it doesn't use an AC current.

Now I wish HP would only make something more modern and as good as the 48GX. Hopefully they will someday, but until then I'm holding onto mine.Get more detail about HP 48Gx 128Kb Ram Programmable Expandable Graphing Calculator.

7 Steps to Becoming Financially Free: A Catholic Guide to Managing Your Money Right now

Don't get me wrong, this is a good book. It is a must have for newlyweds or teenagers. But it is not for someone who already is in serious financial trouble. Yes, it does give some advice for those folks, but the book is mostly preventative. I know a family of 12 who live in Alaska where so many things are much more expensive than in the midwest (where the author lives) and though I see that they practice much of the advice in the book, it is impossible to practice all of it. (They do their own haircuts, get food in bulk from a co-op, make their own bread, do not eat out, dress in used clothes....) I really do not see anywhere they could cut - they could move but their extended family is here, and so are their connections and the Dad's job). They do not even have family vacations! And though the family of 12, and we, are not in serious debt, the book does not help us much to be able to make dramatic changes so that we could be more comfortable. Also, music lessons and such, that are a priority for some families, are not even discussed. And if we are truly going to bring about a cultural renewal, some of our children need to be trained in, and enter into, the arts!Get more detail about 7 Steps to Becoming Financially Free: A Catholic Guide to Managing Your Money.

Low Price Sonin DT110 Inchmate Measurement Conversion Calculator

It takes a few minutes to get used to the procedure for entering measurements in this construction calculator, but once you get the knack and start using it, you'll wish you had it all along.

It's perfect for the general builder on site or for home improvement projects. Sure it won't do elaborate trigonometric calculations. But that's the kind of thing you figure out when you're at the computer at home doing the head-scratching work. On site you just want to know how long to cut the board. And you don't want to have to cut it twice because you added or subtracted a fraction wrong.

I didn't realize what a must-have thing this calculator had become until I thought I had lost mine. I was getting ready to draw some shed plans, and there was no way I was going to start until I found the Inchmate. After searching for a while I gave up and ordered a new one.

Of course my old one turned up a day later. But that's okay. Now I have a backup and I'm glad to have it.Get more detail about Sonin DT110 Inchmate Measurement Conversion Calculator.

Discount HP 17BII Financial Calculator

I bought this calculator on the basis of good review here.
True, most of the good things mentioned in reviews here are indeed true but I found out one major flaw in the "algebra mode"
for this calculator.

In the past, I have avoided HP calculators becuase HP insists on RPN. So I was happy to have an HP calculator with both algebra and RPN until I found out about "Algebra mode" in this calculator.

In other algebra calculators, it is clear that the following is true:
3 + 4 * 5 = 23

But HP 18 gives me the following result:
3 + 4 * 5 = 35
In other words, it is not algebra, in the sense that is taught in the school.

Buying Texas Instruments TI-89 Titanium Graphing Calculator

My science and math minded daughter used a loner TI-89 all through her senior year of High School and, after being accepted at a very good engineering collage, asked for one of her own as a graduation gift. My daughter could have asked for another model or brand, but she did research and was set on getting the TI-89. This was most useful for use in her AP Calculus and Physics classes so she checked and found that this would also be among the preferred model in her college classes.

This is a seriously complicated device with a large learning curve and is likely more calculator than most people will ever need, but for those that do need these functions this is likely the right choice. I have only used it a few times out of desperation and was able to navigate the basic functions.

Highly Recommended!

Purchase Canon X Mark I Premium Black Desktop Calculator (3982B005)

If you're the type of individual that appreciates a high quality, well designed product on your desk, this is the right calculator. It's very solid, the materials are very nice, and the design is clean. The back of the calculator is matte finished anodized aluminum, similar to the back of the original iPhone. This contrasts nicely to the high gloss surface of the keys that have a subtle concave detail molded into them on the numeric keys.
Unlike the previous review, I like the size at roughly 3.7 x 6.2 inches because the individual keys are easy to use and the display is easy to read.
I purchased the white one originally for my home office but I'm going to go with the black one for the spot next to the Tizio lamp on my desk at work

Casio MS-80TV Mini Desktop Calculator Top Quality

Nice big display. Good sized keys with a dimple on the 5 for 10-key computation. Sits securely on the table on little rubber feet. These things last forever, require very little light to operate and you NEVER have to replace batteries! You can literally pull these things out of a box where they have been stored for YEARS and power them right up as long as you're in a lit room. I've done it! I have these stashed all over the place: office, bedside, warehouse, glove compartment etc. They have basic memory features, figure tax rates (+,-) and calculates percentages. HP 33S Scientific Calculator (F2216A) Get it now!

I teach math at a community college, and use this calculator for most of my daily calculations. I own 2 33s and a hp 50g. I have recently bought the 35s. I haven't had a chance to spend much time with the 35s, but my initial impression is a positive one. I like the fact that one does not have to use shift for the following operations -- e^x, x^2, and the (nth root of x). On the 35s one has to use shift to access these, thus adding extra key strokes. I love the side grips made of rubber. This helps me hold on to the unit while in class. The 35s does not have these. It will take me some time to decide to lay down my trusty 33s for the 35s. I love both calculators, but I'm use to the 33s. If you buy the 33s or the 35s you will not be disappointed. RPN is my preferred method for doing calculations. Hope this helps.
